Support Your RWIB With Networking

Why and How to Support Your RWIB Networking Group

By Crystal Henry

Like other businesses in a small community, each of us has a lot to gain by supporting each other. We also collectively decide whether this group or even the businesses in them grow. Every time we make a purchase within our group or send business to those in our group, we are showing pride in our networking group and supporting the women in it. By referring others to our group for business, we are giving RWIB exposure it may not have otherwise received. By looking to the women in this group for business tips, we are showing we value them.

Think about it… our group of independent business owners has so much to offer you or people you know.

When was the last time you visited our website to see the list of members? Do you know who is in your networking group?

Do you know what their businesses have to offer, not in general, but specifically what might set them apart from other businesses?

Have you ever made a purchase within this group?

When was the last time you referred someone who was looking for a product or service that one of our members provides?

When was the last time you bragged on this group or a business woman in this group?

Have you ever had a one on one appointment with anyone in our group to share or gain business tips or learn more about what they have to offer?

Do you know the strengths or skills that women in this group possess?

Do you know women who are business owners and have you invited them to meetings?

We show our support and pride in RWIB by:
1) Attending meetings
2) Utilizing the knowledge and talents of the women in this group
3) Looking to its members FIRST for a product or service we need
4) Referring other business women like ourselves to this group (Invite someone to a meeting! )

Get to know each other on a deeper professional level and show your support in the ways mentioned above.

Expo Recap
Krista asked for feedback about the recent expo. Everyone thought the turnout was great for the cold weather. We agreed we received good business exposure and made connections with the community. The Kid Zone seemed to draw the crowds.
When asked about improvements that could be made, the following things were mentioned:
Better lighting
Better sound down the hall
Expanding through the common area and into the large gymnasium

Krista asked that anyone who thinks of more ideas to please email them to her.

3Min. Educational Spot
Crystal Henry spoke on the importance of buying in our own community, sharing an article from a newspaper about the Ozark community as an example. She then showed the relationship between that article and supporting our RWIB group by looking to RWIB members first when making a purchase, referring others to our group members for purchases, getting to know more about businesses represented, and inviting other women with businesses to join our group. Mary Howard will be placing the information shared concerning our group on the RWIB website as a blog.

Infomercials

Members Names/Businesses Shared
Mary Howard showed a sheet she printed of all the current RWIB members and suggested we each print a page just like it to keep with us so that we can 1) refer people to members in our own group for purchases and 2) to be reminded what kind of businesses may not yet be represented in our group.

News

Welcome Team - Janet Oziah will be joining Crystal Henry in welcoming new businesses to the community. The goal is to not only gain exposure for RWIB but also reach out in effort to grow our networking group. If a woman is the business owner, we want to invite her to be a part of RWIB. If a man is the business owner, he or one of his employees may know someone who would enjoy being part of RWIB.

RWIB Scholarships - The members who attended reviewed the 2011 applications and decided the following seniors will each receive a scholarship of $250 (as decided in the May RWIB Leadership meeting):

Haley Ethridge
Tanya Budler

Summer Meetings - RWIB meeting will continue throughout the summer in efforts to continue the momentum and perhaps add new members.
